Don’t Waste Your Time on Inspiration

When I’m trying to find inspiration to get real work done, it’s easy to slip into “searching for inspiration” mode. This ends up being procrastination for me, though.

These words from Tanner Christensen resonate with me.

You could spend entire work days browsing galleries and portfolios online hoping to find a spark for your own creative ideas. Unfortunately the pursuit of inspiration is a way to feel productive without actually producing anything.

What’s the solution then? Get to work. Start cranking on that project. The answers tend to come when you’re in the heat of the job, working alongside a coworker. When you need a boost of creativity, go for a walk, think, pray, and spend a lot less time doing pretend work “researching” to find inspiration.
